This painting is one of my series of women of all ages whose faces seem to tell stories, even when their backs are turned. Each is available as a 11"x14" print for $20.00 U.S. plus postage.
I am a musician, painter, and sometime writer. My formal study of art was limited but inspiring. My father painted and gave me lessons in drawing, perspective and other basics, and I had a great teacher for one year in high school. Outside of that, I studied paintings and devoured books on painting, colour, aesthetics, and design. I learned that there is no recipe; I think one learns to paint by painting, and the major ingredient is time.
I have exhibited in a number of Canadian galleries, and in one U.S. gallery. My paintings are in private collections in the United States, the U.K. and Europe. My commissions are mainly portraits, but include a mural for an engineering firm in Stratford, Ontario. I participated for five years in Stratford Art In The Park, a long standing juried art show, and continue to offer paintings and prints of blues/jazz themes at concert venues.
My internet exposure includes paintings on the official website for The Band at http://theband.hiof.no. I also sold on eBay, under eBay user name "paintedword".
This blog is my first website.
